Disciple of Yoo Changhyuk 9-dan. Became 1-dan in 2010, promoted to 9-dan in 2018. Came second in 5th Women’s Kiseong tournament in 2011. Won the 13th Women's Meongin tournament in 2012 and held it for five years in a row. Won the Gold Medal in the Pair Go tournament at the 2nd SAWMG tournament and reached the best 64 in the BC Card World Championship in 2012. Contributed to Korea's victory in the Huanglongshi Shuangdeng Cup with three successive wins and won the 6th Women's Kiseong in 2013. Won the 5th Qionglongshan Bingsheng Cup in 2014. Came third in the Pair Go World Cup 2016 Tokyo. Won the 1st Globis Cup World Igo U-20 in 2014 and the 39th King of the New Stars title. Entered the 39th Kisei League aged 16 years nine months, a record. Came second in the 62nd NHK Cup in 2015. Won the 25th Ryusei in 2016. In 2017, came second in the 64th NHK Cup and challenged for the 43rd Tengen and the 65th Oza. In 2018, challenged for the 42nd Kisei, the 44th Tengen and the 66th Oza, and won the 27th Ryusei and the 25th Agon Kiriyama Cup. Won the 67th Honinbo, the 37th Gosei and the 60th Oza in 2012, the 37th Kisei in 2013 (the first player to hold six top titles simultaneously; also completing a cumulative grand slam of the top seven titles), and the 25th TV Asia title, also in 2013. Won the Professional Pair Go Championship 2014. In 2016, won the 54th Judan (first player to complete a simultaneous grand slam). In 2016, also won the 71st Honinbo (having won it five years in a row, he earned the title of Eternal Honinbo and took the name of Honinbo Monyu) and the 41st Gosei (having won it five times in a row, he qualified for the title of Honorary Gosei).
