Mr. Yoshikuni: "Pair Go is popular in Europe.
In the championship in Europe, besides there being a one on one game, there are pair games as well.
This might be based on the culture that people in Europe enjoy things as a couple - a man and a woman, and as married couples.
Let's enjoy pair Go hereafter as well. I'm eager to see Go spread out through pair Go activities."
Next, chief referee 9-dan Mr. Seigen Go gave a speech.
Mr. Go: "Pair Go has already established itself as an international game. I am sure that this game will promote international goodwill. Everyone, please enjoy pair Go in the future as well."

As you already know, Ms. Inori and Chikun Honinbo the 25th pair was the winner last year and two years ago.
As the rule of this championship, winner pairs can attend the next championship as the same pair, however, if the pair win a second time, the pair has to be dismissed and take the lottery of pair matching.
Therefore, Ms. Inori and Chikun Honinbo the 25th had to join the lottery. Well, surprisingly, they became a pair again.
It will be interesting if the pair would be the winner this year as well.
