Pair Go RICOH CUP 2008 ～リコー杯プロ棋士ペア碁選手権2008～

Now the opening ceremony was started. The MC, Ms. Miyoko Goto, introduced Mr. Ichiro Yoshikuni, the honorary president of the Japan Pair Go Association, and he went up on the stage.

Mr. Yoshikuni said, ‘Thank you for coming, everyone. This is the 14th year of the tournament, which is a long time, because of the cooperation of the sponsor, Ricoh Company. And the popularity seems to be increasing, too. Especially, overseas, when there is a Go tournament, they also play Pair Go so it is very popular there. For you to study Go, I hope this tournament will keep going for a long time.
For everyone, I am sure you will learn something, so I hope your strength will increase today.’

After this, on behalf of the sponsor, Mr. Hiroshi Hamada, the supreme advisor of Ricoh Co.Ltd., Mr. Hideo Otake Honorary Gosei, Mrs. Hiroko Taki of the trustee of the Japan Pair Go Association, Masaki Takemiya 9-dan, a commentator, and Tomoko Ogawa 6-dan, an assistant of the commentator were introduced.

Next was the declaration of the opening by Mr. Hideo Otake, a chief judge. He said, ‘Thank you for coming and queuing from early morning. We won’t be able to meet so many professionals like this in Nihon Ki-in. I am sure you will be stronger today. Please, the participants play fair, and everyone here please observe without disturbing the games. Now, please start the games.’
