Pair Go RICOH CUP 2009
Tournament Report

Well, I will introduce the winners' interviews with their ambition to conclude the report. Kumiko Yashiro 5dan did the interview.
Yashiro asked, "I suppose you are happy now?"
Shei said, "Both 2 games, today, were very difficult ones. But I won by Iyama sensei's support."
Yashiro said, "Your comment is very different from last year. (Last year, Shei lost with her partner, Rin Kono 9dan, and she made the audience laugh with her comment that she blamed on Kono 9dan.)
Shei said, "...I told the truth." (audience laughed)
Iyama said, "I am happy to win through to the final. Every game was difficult but at the 1st game of last week, I played against Mr. U Cho and I am so happy that I made revenge of the Meijin title match. (audience applause) I appreciate Shei san."

Keiko Kato asid, "Last week, we didn't get on well, at all (smile)."
Hane said, "We didn't (smile)."
Kato said, "But today, we were perfect."
Hane said, "Even when we made bad moves, we were still in perfect synch."
Kato said, "What made me so happy is that I will be playing 1 more game in the final. Because I want to learn a lot from Hane sensei, I can play many games with him."
Hane said, "I have participated in this championship for more than 10 times but it is the first time to proceed to the final." (audience applause)

Yashiro said, "Please tell us your ambition of the final game."
Hane said, "It seems so natural that our opponent wins so I will go for unexpected win!
Kato said, "We are playing against a young pair, so we will use our veteran experience."
Hane said, "No, I am a veteran but you are not old enough (smile)."
Kato said, "Then, I will do my best as a mainstay!"
Iyama said, "I've lost in all other tournaments so my aim is to win in this championship."
Shei said, "Well, for me, too." (audience laughed)
Iyama said, "We only play whatever move we want to play. In that way, the result will be successful."
The final game will be held, next year, on the 31st of January. The youngest pair will win or the mainstay pair will be able to avoid this result. Let's look forward to the great game.
